West Virginia Office of Broadband – Broadband Equity, Access and Deployment (BEAD) Workforce Development Grant Program

CHARLESTON, W.VA — The West Virginia Department of Economic Development, Office of Broadband (WVDED) is pleased to announce the finalization of its Workforce Development Grant Program notice of funding and associated program guidelines, available here and at our website at broadband.wv.gov/broadband-workforce-development/.

The WVDED will administer the Workforce Development Grant Program through available BEAD funds administered by the National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA). WVDED will award grants to build or expand equitable and accessible training opportunities to support the broadband industry and ensure that West Virginia has the talent it needs to meet the State’s ambitious broadband deployment goals.

The Workforce Development Grant program application period is anticipated to open in March 2025. The grant award ceiling is $5 million per application, with the total grant funding amount anticipated to be between $20 million and $50 million.

WVDED is proud to partner with the West Virginia Grant Resource Centers at Marshall University and West Virginia University. The Grant Resource Centers are available to provide Technical Assistance on application development. We encourage you to reach out and leverage their free support.
